An overview of Aura Vision

Aura Vision uses your existing CCTV cameras to generate anonymous, privacy-safe insights into how customers and staff move, browse, and engage across your store.

Our computer vision platform helps retailers understand what’s happening on the shop floor — across product zones, service areas, and queues — so you can optimise layout, staffing, and performance with confidence.

We provide a range of powerful metrics including entries, dwell time, queue activity, and area engagement, supported by intuitive visual tools such as heatmaps. Aura Vision also includes Headcount planning and Campaign measurement tools to help you improve scheduling and evaluate the impact of promotions and store changes.

Footfall, Entries and Lines

This section explains how Aura Vision counts customers entering your store, alongside a sample of outside passer-by traffic.
It also covers more complex layouts including internal entrances, multiple entry points, and multi-floor environments

Areas

Aura Vision maps your key product and service areas to help you measure customer engagement throughout the store.
This section introduces our taxonomy approach — a structured way of categorising and comparing performance across departments  and service locations.

Heatmaps

Heatmaps are one of Aura Vision’s most powerful visual tools, helping you instantly identify high-traffic hotspots and underutilised opportunity areas.

We provide two core heatmap types:
  1. Total time heatmap – showing where customers and staff spend the most time
  2. Popular paths heatmap – highlighting the most travelled routes through the store 

Metrics

Metrics are the foundation of actionable insight within the Aura Vision dashboard.

Core measures include entries and dwell time, alongside advanced metrics such as:
  1. Queue length and wait times
  2. Entry rates into product and service zones
  3. Capture rate (store entries vs passers-by traffic)

Visualising and exporting the data

Aura Vision data can be explored through two main dashboard views:
  1. Key Metrics View – ideal for high-level performance comparisons across custom date ranges
  2. Explorer View – designed for deeper analysis, including trade-period trends and 15-minute time intervals
CSV exports are available from both views for easy reporting and sharing.

Demographics

If demographics are enabled for your organisation, Aura Vision allows you to segment customer behaviour by:
  1. Gender (male / female)
  2. Seven age groups
Staff segmentation is also possible when there is distinct uniform element available , enabling clearer visibility into staff vs customer movement and service coverage.

Headcount planner

If enabled, the Headcount Planner helps you optimise staffing levels to better match customer demand throughout the day.
It’s a powerful tool for improving coverage, reducing queue pressure, and aligning schedules to real behaviour patterns.
